Pink Dot 2012

This post has long been overdue. Well, along with all my other posts that has not been published since my last one. Hehe.

Anyway, last June 30, me and my friends attended the Annual Pink Dot Celebration in Singapore. This is Singapore's version of the Annual Gay Pride happening all round the world during this time.

Anyway, since this was my first time, I wasn't expecting anything.

Hong Lim Park became the destination of the day as some 15,000 people gathered to express their support for the LGBT Community. Us included. :)

I met my friends in Lucky Plaza to have lunch and then we headed straight to Hong Lim Park as soon as we changed into the pink shirts we brought. I didn't have mine so I had to borrow from a friend.

The event had some performances from local celebrities and performers. It was packed so we stayed in one spot during the entire night: middle-back portion of the area facing the stage.

Unfortunately, we couldn't hear anything. Maybe they didn't think of placing speakers at the back because they didn't expect that the event would attract this many people. I hear this year had a 50% increase compared to last year.

So while half of the people in the area was cheering and enjoying the show, we were busy taking pictures. Haha.

All in all, the event was nice.

Singapore is still not as liberated as London, San Francisco or New York and I don't think they will be any time soon. It's just nice to know that there are people who push and support this cause here.

It's sad when I hear of people who couldn't open their hearts to accept the community.

It's easier for them to judge someone because he or she is different from others.

With all the love in this world, why can't we all just get along?
